Home Build Complete

It’s been two years since my last update. I know that some of you were pretty invested in how my build was going, especially because I was filming the whole thing as a DIY build tutorial, but updating my social media all the time became a bit too much and I just wanted to build my house and relax.

I’m updating you now because my house and the guest house are finally finished. I’m moving in one weeks time, and I’ve successfully sold my house in Cheltenham. Selling my house covered the cost of my entire build and I leave my current house as a financially stable and happy retiree.

I was actually a bit emotional when I went to the Hampton hardware store one last time. I have befriended almost every employee at every hardware store in Cheltenham and surrounds, and I’ll be sad not to visit them every other week. They were all emotionally invested in my project and are really happy that it’s now complete, but they were certainly sad to see me for the last time, too. I think I will pop in from time to time to say hello even after I move.

On my last visit to the hardware store, I bought plumbing supplies. Cheltenham has much better plumbing than the country town that I’ll be living in, and so I want to be ready to fix anything that needs fixing when an issue arises. Part of being a good homeowner is being prepared to fix your house whenever it needs it, and I’m in a good position to be able to do that.

I’m in the process of packing up my entire pre-retired life and moving into my retired life. I think I’ll suit retirement very well. I look forward to years sitting on my balcony with the grandkids. I’m looking forward to the rest of my life.
